Short Scar Facelift

You Say Tom"ay"to

If you're new to the thought of cosmetic surgery, it's easy to be daunted by all the latest terminology. For instance, the procedure we're going to call the short scar facelift is sometimes called a mini facelift, S-Lift, Quicklift and many other names, too many to mention here. It can be very difficult to sort out the terms and find out what's available. Sometimes it's better to go with a description than with a name. That way, your doctor will know exactly what you're talking about, and can advise if this procedure is a good one for you to try.

The procedure we mean to describe serves to tighten the jowls and the little curves that form about the mouth and nose as we age. Though the surgery involves short incisions, it delivers a lot for a long duration. You'll look younger and the results will last many years. Like the stitches themselves, the post-surgery recovery is short and you'll be back in the swing of things, in no time at all.

The best candidate for this type of surgery is the younger patient who still has a good bit of elasticity to his/her skin. This ensures the best results from this cosmetic procedure. If you think you may be a good candidate for this surgery, make an appointment with a cosmetic surgeon for a consultation.

The short scar facelift begins with a short incision beginning at the earlobe, moving up around the edge of the ear, then down around the area of the face just in front of the ear, or the sideburn area. Because of the placement of the stitches and their shortened length, it is just about impossible to find evidence, after the initial healing period, that surgery has been performed.

The surgeon works through the incision to lift the skin and underlying muscle. Any excess skin is removed and the tissues are then sewn with firm sutures into place.

A lot of short scar facelift patients find the discomfort in the first few days after surgery to be mild in nature. There will be some bruising and swelling, along with tightness and a numb feeling. These symptoms tend to disappear within several days' time. In fact, most patients return to their normal lives within a week or two.

Cosmetic Surgery Secret

When you return to work, you might notice your co-workers glancing at you from time to time and they may even say something about how rested you look after your "vacation."  But you needn't fear they've figured out your cosmetic surgery secret, because the results will be so natural, no one will ever know unless you tell them.
