Nutrients and Vitamins in Your Diet Not In a Bottle

We’re all about convenience these days and we’re living in a world where everything would come in a quick-open bottle or easy-to-swallow pill form if it could. This of course seems to go for our nutrients and vitamins as well—all of which can be found at your local drugstore or department store. The thing is, people were doing just fine long before humans ever figured out how to package nutrients and vitamins in a bottle by simply getting it from their foods.

False Sense of Security In a Bottle

Many seem to be living under the notion that as long as they incorporate a multivitamin or some supplements into their lives that they’re making up for a diet of processed foods that contain little fruits, vegetables or grains. You’re in for a rude awakening when that catches up with you in the way of high cholesterol, heart disease, cancer or other conditions! While taking a multivitamin is a great thing, you need to understand that it doesn’t make up for poor diet habits. A diet devoid of enough fruits and vegetables usually tends to be high in fats and sugars. This also means being irregular and even compromising your immune system by not keeping it as strong as it needs to be in order to do its job. And it doesn’t take a PhD to know that a weakened immune system leaves you at risk of developing all kinds of nasty and potentially life-threatening ailments. No bottle in the vitamin aisle will contain the miracle that you need to make up for a poor diet and lifestyle no matter what promises are on the label.

Back to Basics

The best way to ensure that you’re getting the right amount of nutrients and vitamins is to get back to the basics and start eating a balanced diet that is as natural as possible. This means eating less processed foods and more fresh fruits and vegetables and wholesome grains. Eating a well balanced diet will give your body what it needs to be strong, healthy and function the way it’s intended to. And incorporating a supplement or two into your regime will work as it’s meant to—as a boost to an already healthy system. Stop relying on a pill or drug to do what your body should be doing already! Start eating right, keep active and watch how your body will reward you by functioning as it should.
