pap smear, gram stain, wet mount?

these are some of the various tests i have undergone over the years to check sexual and reproductive health. but i keep forgetting to ask my obgyn what they are for... pls help clarify for me...thanks!

pap smear checks for changes in the cervix, gram stain is a way of identifying bacteria and wet mount is a way of detecting infection in the vaginal area.

i had these tests also and until i googled them today i did not know what they were specifically for. good thing you piqued my curiosity.

I guess sometimes doctors order tests without fully explaining them to patients?

Had a pap smear and gram stain already...dont recall the wetmount

i get a papsmear like every six months or so... but i never knew what they were exactly for! luckily i saw this. thanks kristy!
