Do women undergo a midlife crisis like men?

If you mean having to go through a load of issues emotionally or psychologically while at a certain age - usually between 40 to 60 years old - I think, it's not just men who undergo through such "crisis" but so do women.

Whie I'm not in the defense of men, the pattern is too general to be isolated to men alone. Many studies in the US even show that not more than 10% go through this midlife crisis.

Midlife crisis does affect women. Studies have shown that change and ageing usually trigger midlife crisis. Examples are: children leaving the home, menopause and retirement.

yeah, ever hear of the "empty nest" syndrome! this can trigger midlife crisis in women. they can get depressed or start to behave strangely by trying to bring back their "youth".

My mom went through this when all of us moved out...right before she started her menopause. It was a confusing time for her and she wanted to feel young again. I guess she was lonely too. It was diagnosed by a doctor and she had to undergo some sort of therapy and enrol in several classes to help her cope with the changes in her life.
