Disease wise, its possible to get a yeast or fungal infection on an area of skin, perhaps trying an over the counter yeast or fungal creme may help. Its also possable to get an STD like herpes or crabs, which can cause itching. It never hurts to see a doctor just to rule these out.
It could just be irritated by soaps or chemicals that you have used. Perhaps something you use to wash your cloths or to bathe with has recently changed it formula and you may be allergic to it. Its also possible to form a new allergy to something that you have used for years where nothing has changed at all.
If the doctor rules out an infection. I would recommend purchasing some natural (chemical free soap) from your health food store and using that to bathe with and to wash your underwear in. (stay away from the mint soap. It smells good in the store but terrible in the bath. I use the coco butter black soap) Give it about a month to see if it heals. I know a woman who began having pain during intercourse and it turned out to be caused by her laundry detergent. It took two months, but eventually the damage healed and her sex life returned to normal.
Its worth a shot.
