Aside form the infected region being either the penis or vagina... are STD symptoms the same in men and women?

I dunno since my guy friends wont admit to having STDs but I guess there should be some similarities, like having foul discharge and pain when peeing and other stuff.

In syphillis there is pus that leaks off the penis and in the female there is foul discharge... so maybe there are similarities?

yes there are similarities. pain during sex and peeing is one of the most common symptom that is shared by both sexes.
