They should both be fine provided that mom is in great shape.
I agree, although cases of abnormalities and Down's syndrome is more common among late mothers.
I think early 30's is fine but 38+ is kinda late for me to start a family. And seeing the post about Down's Syndrome has cemented my belief. Of course, this is just my opinion. Lots of women that age have healthy babies too.
If it were me I would be too comfortable in my childess state to try to have a baby.
