I had sex with my husband, and hadn't realized i started my period, my husband called me later in the day and was concerned b/c was having problems when he urinated, small amount of blood in urine flow, and his underwear had blood spots on them. He did not know i had started my cycle, could the penis act as syringe and pull blood into the penis. I know this sounds strange, but my period was not heavy, in fact i didn't notice it unitl i used the restroom later that morning. Not sure if we should be worried or not.

This is going to sound crass, but did he wash his penis after the sex before putting his underwear on?

I don't think there is anything unsafe about period sex, if so, I am a magic creature with magical un-harmful period blood because I have sex, even during heavy flow days all the time with my bf. I have also had sex on my period with other bf's in the past. No problems besides a mess.

I'd say it is possible a small amount of blood got in his penis, and that the blood on the underwear would be due to blood on his penis that neither of you noticed and ribbed off on his undies. If he continues to pee blood, well maybe you two have a UTI, or some other infection, not to scare ya, but if it did continue, go see a doctor.
