I have been on the birth conrol pill for about 5 month. My period is suppose to show up sometime in the middle of this week according to my mentral calenderr but I've been having spotting of light pink or brownish the flow is lighter than a period. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and It came out negative. So, what is going on with my body?

i missed my period in June and i thought i was pregnant because at the period i felt funny in my abdomen, was urinating frequently and feeling a bit nauseating. the thing is, my period came this July for two days, even though, i still get the abdominal discomfort, i am so confused, cos i really want this pregnancy. pls advise
