What are some risks when taking birth control pills?
Birth control risks are very minimal. However, some studies have shown that BCP can cause blood clots and increase your risk of stroke. This risk doubles for smokers and women over 35. Birth control pills also do not protect against STD/HIV.
Birth control pills can also increase DVT (deep vein thrombosis)
There are also some women who develop allergic reactions to the pill, although this is rare.
