from the posts here, it is established that certain forms of cancer are genetic and that there are genetic testing available. my question is: what is the next step when you find out you are carrying a cancer gene?

I think the doctors will wait if you will actually develop the cancer cells. Coz even if you are genetically predisposed to cancer, it might still not happen.

Yeah, I think so, but at least if you know then you can take precautions and get regular checkups. remember that prevention is better than cure!

Talk to your other relatives and tell them that they are at risk too. You can also explore options with your doctor.

i would ask the doctor how much chance that i will actually get the cancer then decide from there if i want a mastectomy or other procedures.
