I contracted genital herpes many years ago and am wondering how this would effect childbirth? I have one child (I had her before I got herpes) and just remarried and y husband and I both have our hearts set on having a home birth with a midwife. I am just worried that there would be too high of a risk of the baby getting herpes if I have it outside of the hospital. Does anyone know anything about this sort of thing?

I am in the same position. i was contracted with genital herpies. the doctors said that i will have to have a c-section so that it will not affect the baby. Thats all i can tell you and most likely what the doctors will say. if you have it normally, the baby will most likely catch it also.
