if you have at least two close relatives that had breast cancer then there is a risk that you may carry the defective gene that makes you susceptible |

there are some cancers that are genetic and i think breast cancer is one of them. if you have a close female relative, then better get regular mamograms |

so if you find that you are positive, what will happen then? I mean what other options are open? How accurate is this sort of test? |

i believe its fairly accurate. there are options like an early mastectomy to reduce risk of contacting the disease. these are some of the topics discussed for women who are prone to breast cancer |

Yup, heard that breast cancer was hereditary, so better get checked regularly, especially if you are a woman in your 40's. |

Cancer being genetic makes sense. Seeing that cancer is a condition whereby cells deviate from the normal, it would be logical to follow that there would also be some deviations in the DNA and since DNA is passed from family members then it would also follow that these sorts of diseases are hereditary or genetic in origin. |

its not 100% accurate but it helps in early detection if ever you have a close relative who has had breast cancer. |
