Does anyone know how effective they are? What are the chances of getting pregnant if one does not break but it is the only method of birth control being used?

The only thing worse than a condom is a spermicidal condom. Nonoxynol-9 not only INCREASES the chances of getting HIV by 85%, it offers no protection against gonorrhea or chlamydia and most people are now being advised to avoid it. (About time). It also increases the risk of HPV.10% of HPV cases will result in abnormalities while only a handful of those will actually contract cervical cancer, but it's still a risk.
