We have had a great deal of stress here in our home while dealing with our son's drug addiction. He almost died back in August causing me great anguish. I was an emotional wreck. I have not had a period since that incident. I dealt with about a month of hot flashes which seem to have gone away for now. The stress level here is still quite high. Could this trauma have brought on early menopause?

Did you get any answers? I am early forties, my son almost died two months ago as the result of a drug overdose and the stress in our house is at an all time high. Now I am experiencing symptoms of early menopause, the dryness, mood swings, scattered thoughts, weight gain. It seems I can't finish anything I start. I'm usually pretty easy going, but lately I've been screaming and feel like I want to strangle someone.
