I am thinking about giving my baby up for adoption. I gave birth to her two months ago and things are just so hard. I am depressed, jobless, and alone, and only 16 years old. my parents won't even help me out and i am at the end of my rope. my baby deserves better than i can give her and i was just wondering what the adoption process entails. i still want to be able to see her, but i think she needs a better home.

Wow! I really feel for you. It sounds like you're going through a rough time. I commend you for realizing and loving your daughter so much that you want to ensure she has the best no matter how hard that may be for you. Although it's not a permanent solution, you may want to consider foster care. While this can work for some people, its not for everyone and you should not consider putting your daughter in foster care if you do not plan to be able to raise her yourself soon. Of course adoption is a possibility and many couples are likely to be very happy to include you in your daughters life. you can try doing an independent adoption search, whereby you try to find some adoptive parents yourself, or you can go through an agency. Many agencies (at least in the US) encourage open adoption and would help you find the right parents for your daughter. All the best and God Bless!

To a parent.
greetings in the name of jesus christ my lord and savior. My name is Iradukunda joseph jib. I am a Rwandese Refugee living in Kenya. I am 17 years of ageand I've been living in kenya since 1997.
At first let me briefly tell you about my self. I was born in 1988. I was the the lastborn in a family of 4. My father was a preacher and my mother worked in a hospital. In 1994 the war hit our country Rwanda and we fled to DRC(democratic republic of congo) During that war , i lost my father and also my elder desappeared and we have never heard of him since. In congo we lived in pain, full of compassion caused by the loss of our family members. Unfortunately the worse was still to come. In 1996 the war hit Congo . There everyone was caught off guard when the war started. Each one of us fled to his own location in order to save him self and be able to live another day. Since that day I've never seen my mother or either any member of my family. I remember that day as it nwas yesterday. at that time I was only 8 years old. during the attack I fled with our neighbor to Tanzania. I lived there for 3 months and I was kiked out of that family due to the finacial crisis they faced. I then started looking for a place to stay but I couldn't find any. Miracoulously I managed to arrive in Kenya. How i arrived in kenya is a very long story which only a few people that I've told finded it hard to believe. In Nairibi i lived here and there. With god's help i managed to get a single parent who offered me a temporaly shelter. Thanks ti him I managed to study and in 2002 i got my high school certificat and in August 2005 I got my high school Diploma. But since I finished high school I've been here and there seaching for a place to live because the good samaritan is living in may this year.I searched for a job, a scholarship but i keep on recieving negative answers. Desparetely an idea come to me of seaching for help to parents who are in need of kid(s). Buy god's grace I realised that they can help either but welcoming in their family or in any way that they can. I then remembered a website i saw in readers digest and that is where i got your adress and i decided to write to you. So if you have mercy on me you can help me. Help could either be helping me with a scholarship so that I can go to college and further my education so that i may be able to provide for my self or help me with a certain amount so that i may rent a single room once the good samaritan leaves. Or integrate me in your family. Or if you can't do any of the above you can at least advice me what to do or refer me where i can get help and god will bless you. Thank you for taking your time trying to understand me. I look forward hearing from you. Joseph iradukunda.
